subs in schools

Like everyone else i have been doing observations and on today there was a sub. It is so crazy how kids act completely different whenever there is a sub, they all let loose as if they have been waiting for this day to come. I walk into the classroom and the kids were loud, out of their seats, all of them doing random things. Sad part is, the man was so nice and his wife is also a teacher in the same school. I think subs are too lenient, but not everyone knows classroom management.

heres a link to help the poor subs

  1. Students also learn when they are really young that substitute = party time. They get indignant when a sub tries to teach a lesson; I've heard kids says things like, "You can't grade me" or "You'll be gone tomorrow."

  2. I will never understand why kids do this but I cant really judge because I've had my share of teasing the sub.I don't think its anything personal but more of monkey see monkey do type theory.

  3. not gonna lie in school we had a lot of fun with subs such as switching names around or just trying to get away with as much as possible

  4. For some reason children just like to show out when someone other than the teacher is in the classroom. Maybe they just think that since their teacher is not here they can not get in trouble. Some one should really research why students show out for subs. While I was observing their was one student that showed out just because I was there. I wanted to leave, so he would do his work because he was too focused on me.
